Q. How accurate are fertility monitors?

Fertility monitors look for something known as Luteinizing hormone, or LH for short. Luteinizing hormone is always present in a woman`s system. However, around 24 to 48 hours before you ovulate, your body will experience a surge in your LH levels. It is this surge of LH levels that actually triggers your ovaries to release an egg, and for you to ovulate. When you are ovulating is, obviously, the time of your cycle that you are most fertile, and when you are most likely to be able to conceive. Fertility monitors are somewhere around 99% accurate when it comes to detecting this LH surge. If you are monitoring ovulation for several days, and there has been no LH surge, it is likely that you have not ovulated. If this is the case, you will probably want to use another fertility monitoring kit to watch for the time when you do ovulate.

yes the fertility monitor works very fine even if you have pcos problem. you can easily consult a doctor who will also confirm that you can use the fertility monitor if you have that pcos. fertility monitor adjust itself according to your menstural cycle and you have not botheration at all. people are using it frequently at homes now. i've been using clear blue easy fertility monitor for 3 cycles and i'm still not pregnant :( we've been ttc even before we started using the monitor though. we've bd'd mostly every other day through high fertility and the second peak day. how accurate are these things? i was charting for 3 months.. the battery in my thermometer went dead and i kind of want to take a break from temping this month. i get crazy about my temps and obsess over them.. i just want to relax a little bit!

Well, they're accurate as far as what they tell you. What they tell you is when your estrogen and LH are high and you are likely to ovulate. They do not tell you whether you have actually ovulated or whether other factors make it possible for you to conceive.

what do you reccomend that is at walmart or meijer for not that much ?

well, i have had really good luck with clear blue easy ovulation predictor kits. i haven't used the monitor, just the sticks, and they work great. so if i was going to move up to a monitor, i would get the clear blue easy monitor! they have them at walmart. i know several people who use it and like it. good luck to you!

does anyone know of a good fertility monitor that is accurate? do the ones that check saliva work good? i don't want to spend too much money if i don't have to and i don't want to have to keep buying supplies, i.e. testing strips. any suggestions?

I have a monitor and this will be our 4th month of trying....the 1st and 3rd months gave readings which showed high fertility and peak fertility, however the 2nd and current month are just showing high fertility for a number of days......apparently this is because I have either not ovulated, or the reading wasn't accurate! I saw one of my friends who is 8 months pregnant on Sunday and she said that she used the monitor for the first 3 months, but found it was making her and her husband quite stressed, and made the whole 'trying to conceive' process like a bit of a chore. They decided they would stop using and she fell pregnant in the 5th month. My advice is that you can give it a go, but my doctor advised me to simply have intercourse as regular as possible (she said everyday but I think that's pushing it, although my husband agrees with her funnily enough)....and she advised not to use the monitor as I suppose it can stress you out if you are not falling pregnant.

the stiks u pee on do not work well u need to know exactley when u are getting close to ovulate if u relly want one that works good i woudl try the electronic ones htey are kind of spendy but work great if u look on e-bay u can probley get one for aorudn 150.00 verses 300 in the stores and the test sticks cosut around if i rember right aobut 30.00 for it but alst at lest 3 to 4 mo wich in taht time u sould concive it will tell u the exat day u are ovulateing and so forth they are relly cool

i have heard that with the clearblue fertility monitor you use first morning urine. all other ovulation tests i've used have said to not use first morning urine. why am i able to use it with clearblue fertility monitor? will i get accurate results? it makes me nervous to spend this kind of money to get something that might not work accurately. i would just love to know why first morning urine is effective for this predictor kit, and not for other things...

I'm not sure what tests you have read that do not require FMU, but most of them are more accurate with FMU since you have the highest concetration of hormones. I used the clearblue easy fertility monitor and loved it. it is expensive, but I thought it was worth it since I had such an irregular cycle. The machine really gets to know your boby and it works best with FMU. After about a month it will know your body and it is really easy to read. There will be either 1 bar for low fertility, 2 bars for high fertility and 3 bars for peak, and then you will see an egg plus 3 bars when you are ovulating. (That is the most exciting). Also, it ends up being cheaper than the other tests since you get I think 50 sticks in 1 package versus 7 in the others. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!

Q. What would a fertility monitor read if you're already pregnant?
i'm getting what i think is less than accurate output from my clearblue fertility monitor (lots of high days no peak) and i was wanting to know if it's possible that i ovulated but got pregnant right away (i did it a few times presumably in the week i was supposed to ovulate) and what the monitor would show- low, high, or peak- if already pregnant.

I'm not too sure what the monitor would say, some people have had an ovulation test show up when pregnant. I used a Clearblue monitor for about a year and quite often I only got high days and no peak even though I was ovulating. With regards to an ovulation test when pregnant, it is possible that it would show positive if you were pregnant however, I used one when I thought I might be pregnant because had no pregnancy tests and it showed negative, the faintest line possible. So I got disheartened until a few days later when I took a pregnancy test and was positive!! So I think the only thing for you to do would be to take a pregnancy test to check. Q. Clear blue easy fertility monitor?
i have a question on the clear blue easy fertility monitor, how accurate is it, i jumped from low to peak it completely skipped over high. this is the first month using the product and i was just curious...? please help if you can...it was peak yesterday so we bd last night and it was peak again this morning so we plan on doing it again tonite, any other suggestions? we didn't think we were ovulating but apparently we are, right?

It is pretty accurate 99% although I also chart my bbt so that i know when i ovulate. The CBFM just tells you peak days and then you can ovulate within the next 12-36 hours. SO with that said you should BD every day until you get low again and on that low day you should also BD. It takes sperm anywhere from 24-48 to get to the egg, so if you dont do it every day and you release an egg too early the sperm may not have time to swim up there and fertilize. :) I would chart your BBT because my monitor would say high,peak,peak, low and then my bbt would show that 2 days after the low my temp would spike(indicating ovulation) and my O day would go from the peak day on the CBFM to actually 2 days after. Fertility monitor. I used the Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. It worked great (I'm 17 1/2 weeks pregnant). I hated the sticks because I had a hard time telling if the color of the test line was the same color as the control line. With the monitor it actually tells you as you get closer.

Q. Effects of the clear blue easy fertility monitor while taking clomid?
i am on my first round of clomid. i am continuing to use the clear blue easy fertility monitor to predict ovulation. do you know if the results are accurate. do you know when i should have sex?

I never got a peak reading using the monitor while on Clomid. In the booklet it says clomid can affect results. I knew I ovulated because I charted and I also used the clear blue digital OPK.
