neither...i took them and they made my hair more healthy and shiny but that was about it. i didnt lose or gain any weight because of it..i lost weight cuz i was trying to and took the vitamin to make sure i was getting enough nutrition and didnt damage my body from all the exercising

Pre-natal vitamins are just a standard multi-vitamin that has a few extra bits of things that are good for helping a baby grow. They won't make you gain weight. The average rate of hair growth is 1/2 an inch a month. The maximum rate that your hair will grow is determined by your genetics, but since most people aren't getting all the vitamins that they need, their hair growth slows down. Taking a multi-vitamin can bring it back up to optimum. Excercise will help you gain weight - you want muscle not fat.

From my experience, prenatal vitamins are fine on the Atkins Diet. I was on both, and didn't experience any problems with still losing weight. On a side note, I did notice that the prenatal vitamins would make my stomach very queasy depending on when I took them. Make sure to take your vitamin on a full stomach, preferably not after eating greasy food (like bacon or sausage.) Good luck with Atkins. I lost 55 pounds on it several years ago and have still kept the weight off (I went from 175 lbs to 120 in about a year.) I've been off it now for a year, and still feel great from the weight loss. Try out the recipes in the Atkins books--they are great, and they help break up the monotomy that sometimes happens when you are on it for too long!

okay, im not pregnant and not planning on being pregnant for a few years but i need my vitamins. its safe for me to take prenatal right? (the reason being is im low in folic acid and i know these have more) im also trying to lose weight

WOW. . . i had the same problem. . . I started drinking coffee in the hospital after my first son was born. . . and it's become a habit. I recently learned that I'm pregnant (7 weeks along) and I've been cutting back on the caffeine drinks. It's hard though. . . a cup of decaf just isn't the same! I know I joined a gym when my son turned 1 (they had a daycare there) and I forced myself to go atleast 3 times a week for 1 hour. . and it's seemed to help out with the weightloss alot. I also still go, but I just walk the treadmill for 45 mins. . want to prevent myself from the 48lb weight gain this time around! Good Luck to you!!!
