A bail bond is the legal document registeres with the court by the agent of bail who tells the respective Court that bail has been paid and. it is mandatory to present the document to the police or court before the bailee(defendant) will be duely released from custody. if the defandant cannot pay the whole amount the court may agree for him to par a certain part a a loan ,but this practise is not common. irfan

Q. How does bounty hunting and bail bonds work?
is dog the bounty hunter rich? how does the bail and subsequent bounty hunt work? who pays who? who owes who? they always seem so mad, almost like the fugitive stole from them. please explain the process from original arrest through to fugitive capture and return, including payment times along the way.

"The bond poster pays the hunter..."

If someone posts bail for you & you don't show up in court, the bail money is forfeited. The person who posted the bail hires a "bounty" hunter to chase you down. You will then be returned for arrest and confined until a court appearance is scheduled. The bond poster pays the hunter, & eventually receives his money back..being out only the amount he paid the "hunter"

Q. How do bail bonds work and where does the bounty hunter come in?
i understand the bounty hunter catches the fugitives, but how do the bail bondsmen make their money?

"The bondsman pays the bounty hunter a portion of the bond (again usually between 10-20%..."

Say you have been charged with a crime that has a $10,000 bond (or whatever amount). For whatever reason you can't afford to pay, therefore you approach a bondsman. The bondsman pays the court (or actually signs a contract stating he will pay if you abscond), and you are released. The bondsman charges you in the region of 10-20%, this is where he makes his money. Most bondsmen know that only a tiny portion of accused criminals go on the run, and therefore it is an easy $1000-2000 profit. the bondsmen can further protect his "investment" by having a co-signer on the bond (ie mum or dad) and have you offer collateral like a vehicle title. If you go on the run, he bondsman uses a bounty hunter to find you. The bondsman pays the bounty hunter a portion of the bond (again usually between 10-20%). Many bondsmen are happy to make (and lose) zero by paying the bounty hunter whatever the fee paid by the accused criminal. In many cases the bondsman and bounty hunter are actually the same person.

Q. Can bail bonds work to help repay restitution?
my nephew is in trouble and his attorney said that he won't have to go to prison if he can pay all his restitution up front. it's a large sum of money. he has a great job and can pay it back in installments. any ideas where he could come up with this kind of money? he realized he made a big mistake, but has children and going to prison would ruin their lives. he knows the implications of his actions, so please help and not just criticize. thanks!

He may be able to borrow the money if his credit is still good or a family member could help him borrow the money.

Q. Going to court after you are arrest and how do bail bonds work?
a friend of mine told me he was arrested for public intoxication and that he had to spend 12 hours in jail until he was bailed out. he told me that he has to go to court on june 17th. he might have had a traffic ticket, but he has never been arrested before. what is the purpose of the court hearing. will he be on probation or have to go to drug meetings? when somebody bails somebody out of jail is it true that at some point they will get their money back and who exactly gives it back?

"Cash bond then the money would be returned by the agency that accepted the..."

Public intoxication would mean he more than likely will just be fined and if he can pay the fine he should not be put on probation ( remember though no one can tell you for sure what a sentence will be, judges have a good deal of discretion ) As far as bail, if you posted a cash bond then the money would be returned by the agency that accepted the money in the first place. What is more common is to pay a bondsman 10% roughly of the total bond and he will sign the person's bond for release. In this case you are hiring the bondsman and there will be no return of money. Many people choose this option because of limited funds, it is a lot easier to come up with $20 to pay a bondsman than it is to come up with $200 for a cash bond.

Q. How do bail bonds work???
my father-in-law got arrested and asked me to find a bail bond person. he said he would put up his car, truck, and horse trailer. if he does this do i still have to pay something? do does this work? i have no idea what i am doing but i do know i have no money to get him out so will his car, truck, and trailer replace money or what? please help!!!

"If he skips and misses his court dates..."

If all you're doing is finding someone for him to use, you're just hooking the two of them together. It will be up to your father in law to put up the value of his assets to secure the bond. (It's basically a loan to get him out of jail, the bailbondman makes 10% above what he puts up.) If he owns all of those items outright, the BB man will have him give up the titles to cover the note. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!! If you co-sign the bond, you're on the hook for the "loan" if he skips and misses his court dates. Just get him some phone numbers and back away, quickly!

Q. How do bail bonds work?
also what is a "non-surety bond" and a "surety bond" ??

"By posting a property bond with the court in some..."

WHAT ARE BAIL BONDS? THE BAIL BOND PROCESS AND THE COURT SYSTEM The purpose of the bail system is to guarantee the appearance of a criminal defendant in court, and it is important that you know how bail bond process works. Our licensed bail agents can answer all your specific questions or give you more bail bond information 24 hours a day. Please call at 888 224 5266. HOW DO BAIL BONDS WORK? A bail bond is formally known as a "Surety Bond". Usually, a friend, relative, attorney or defendant will contact a bail bond company by phone. During the initial phone consultation, most bail bond companies will collect basic information about the situation, such as where is the detainee being held, how long have they been there, what are the charges, how long have they been in their current residence, do they work, etc. The bail company is assessing the risk involved in the bail bond. If the customer chooses to purchase a bail bond, the customer will need to sign bail bond documents including a Bail Bond Application, a Bail Indemnity Agreement, and a receipt. Our company can process bail by fax or e-mail in just a few minutes or we can dispatch a licensed bail bond agent to the customer. After the bail bond paperwork is finalized, a licensed agent will “post” the bail bond at the appropriate detention facility or jail which will result in the release of the defendant. From start to finish, a competent bail bond company will complete the entire bail bond process in 1 to 2 hours. Note that we can't begin the bail bond process until all the arrest and booking procedures are complete. For this service, the customer is charged a fee (usually 10% of the full bail amount, which is mandated by state law). Rynerson Bail Bonds offers payment options to meet your needs. Be wary of bail agents offering cheap bail bonds for 5% or less. Bail bond cost is set by California law, and bail agents who charge less are violating the law or may simply be using "bait & switch" to get your business. By involving family, friends, and possible collateral, the bail bond company can be reasonably assured that an individual released on bail bond will appear at their appointed court date. With their money at risk, the bail bond company has a financial incentive in supervising bailees, so that they ensuring that they appear for trial. If a defendant "skips bail ", the bail agent has time to find the defendant and bring them in. With this in mind, always understand your bail bond indemnitor responsibility before you agree to sign on someone else's behalf. If the person fails to appear, the bail bond company will expect you to know where the defendant can be found and assist in their return to court. ARREST AND BOOKING When an individual is arrested, generally, they will be taken to a local law enforcement station for booking. During the arrest and booking process, bail will be set, if applicable. After they have been booked, the defendant has several options for release. The booking process basically consists of fingerprinting, background check, check for warrants and getting into the computer system. The detainee will be searched for weapons. Their personal belongings will be catalogued and retained by the jailer. During their time in jail the detainee will not have access to their money, credit cards, cell phones, etc. After fingerprints are taken, the arrestee is taken to a cell. The cell may or may not have a payphone for use. Some jails allow for phone calls before the person is brought to the cell, others will give phone access when it is convenient for the jailer. There is considerable work involved on the part of the jail to get the individual "processed in". After the jailer has done this work, the computer system needs to update. The entire process can be time consuming. Some jails, especially smaller jails, do this quickly and efficiently and are complete with "processing in" in an hour or less. Other jails take several hours to accomplish this. The busyness of the jail is also a large factor in determining the time required to process an arrestee. OPTIONS FOR RELEASE There are the 5 options for release Bail Bond (formally a Surety Bond) Bail bonds are explained in detail above. Own Recognizance (also known as "O.R.") Defendants can be released on their Own Recognizance, also known as "OR". This is usually reserved for lesser crimes. Only a judge can decide to release a detainee on OR. In such a case, the defendant is released with a written promise to appear in court. Property Bond Release from jail may be obtained by posting a property bond with the court in some . Because Property Bonds involve real estate and can be likened to the buying or selling of a home, the process usualy takes several weeks. Equity in the property must be equal to 150% of the total bond amount. Fees on a property bond would be similar to escrow fees, appraisal and title searc

Q. Bail bonds????
how do bail bonds work if i am posting bail for someone ??? i have never done this be4 what are my risks??? ok so bail in this case is set for $1500.00 and they want me to sign some paper saying i will owe them $10,000.00 if my daughter skips bail so does this mean that if and when she goes to court i dont have to deal with the bonds people anymore???i mean she will be at court if i have to drag her there myself #1 she has no place to go and is with a 4 month old daughter and besides she is scared out of her skin right now that she will coperate with the police anyways

"To decide if the person you are bailing is going to show up and..."

They give the courts a promise for the arrestee's appearance, in the form of a bond. Say the bond is $25,000, well you will have to pay a bondsman, 10%, so $2,500 cash, which you forfiet (its like a loan) and give him calateral to cover the rest of the $25,000 in case the arrestee does not show up in court. Risk is big on your part. You have to decide if the person you are bailing is going to show up and consider their crimes too. Good luck

Q. How do bail bonds work in america?
how do i become a bounty hunter????!!!

"Fugitive recovery does not work through force but rather by outsmarting the fugitive..."

I had the pleasure of watching a well known hunter at work a few years back, and very impressive he and his team were. In the United States today, there are 4000 known fugitive recovery agents, or bail enforcement specialists, as they are sometimes known. In most cases, fugitive recovery does not work through force but rather by outsmarting the fugitive. In many cases, bail enforcement is about learning a fugitive's actions, interviewing their relatives and acquaintances, and looking up the paperwork related to the fugitive. Often, research is what helps private investigators and agents get the facts they need to find someone. Sometimes, bounty hunters put ads with the word reward in the newspapers in order to track at fugitive. In most cases, however, a fugitive's own family and friends can be persuaded to give them up. By law, certified bail enforcement agents can use a number of techniques for fugitive recovery. Unlike police, bail enforcement professionals are not limited by warrants and probable cause. They may pursue fugitives outside the state or wherever they think they may be hiding. They're allowed to break into a home where they believe there may be fugitives in hiding. This can make a fugitive recovery professional more effective than the police in tracking down a fugitive. Sometimes, investigators must use surveillance to find a fugitive. They may also have to run background checks or impersonation in order to get close enough to the fugitive to verify their identity. Once fugitives are caught, fugitive recovery does not end until the fugitive recovery agent has delivered the criminal to the courts.

Q. How to bail bonds work ?

"Bond agents generally charge a fee of 10-12% of the..."

Bond agents generally charge a fee of 10-12% of the total amount of the bail required in order to post a bond for the amount. This fee is not refundable and represents the bond agent's compensation for his or her services. As the practice of paying a 10% cash premium for a bond became widespread, some courts have recently instituted a practice of accepting 10% of the bond amount in cash, for example, by requiring a $10,000 bond or $1,000 in cash. In jurisdictions where the 10% cash alternative is available, the deposit is usually returned if the case is concluded without violation of the conditions of bail. This has the effect of giving the defendant or persons giving security for the defendant a substantial incentive to make the cash deposit rather than using a bail bond agent.*

Q. How do bail bonds work, i mean at pon shops they don't try to track u down if you left with your stuff there

"You show up for court and they get to keep your..."

The bail bondsman accepts a non refundable deposit to secure your release from jail (usually 10%-15% of the total bail amount). In effect they are personally guaranteeing the rest of the money. You show up for court and they get to keep your money but you didn't have to wait in jail until your court date- win win. You run however, and they contract a bounty hunter to retrieve you( and protect their investment).
