| ![]() Powered by | ![]() Q. My body is antibiotic resistant how long does it take for my body to become normal so i can use antibiotics?"It also depends on the antibiotic..."You may never go back to normal. Resistance to antibiotics can last a life time. However, it also depends on the antibiotic. As long as it is just one or two then you can use any of the other ones. | ![]() Powered by | ![]() Q. How long does the antibiotic generally stay in the body when taken the first time?"The medicine undergoes first pass metabolism your body size and body fat the function..."The answer you seek will vary with:
the antibiotic used
the dose given
the route of administration (oral or by injection - intravenous or intramuscular etc) and whether the medicine undergoes first pass metabolism your body size and body fat the functionof your organs of elimination - ie your kidneys and liver any other medications/drugs which you take which can affect the medicine itself or may affect the kidney or liver function in eliminating it from the body | ![]() Powered by | ![]() Q. How long does an antibiotic (keflex) stay in the body after one discontinues using it?"In plain english this means it's rapidly excreted from the body..."Keflex (cephalexin) has a half-life of 0.9 hours (54 minutes). In plain English this means it's rapidly excreted from the body. Even if you took 500mg 4 times a day for 10 days, it would be gone from the body within a day after completing the 10 days of treatment.
Hope this helps.

Q. Are there any long term effects on the human body from having mrsa twice? also what about the antibiotic? i have asked my doctor about the long term use of vancomiacin intraveniously and having to use it on 2 occassions already. i have never felt the same after having mrsa and haven't ever been able to return to work do to weakness. are the long term effects going to get worse?
"Immune response is incrediblly expensive for your body..."
There are a couple answers.
Having had it is a huge drain on your physical reserves, so you will be as run down for awhile as if you had a more classic serious illness, like... mono. It also causes a lack of some immune cells, and your blood work might show that. the disruption of your immune system by vancomycin should clear up in a month or so... but it takes months of living tenderly to recover from something like that. Be very good to yourself: Eat right, don't get chilled or stressed, get your doctor to prescribe some prenatal vitamins or take some really well balanced ones that provide what you need without all the work of eliminating huge excesses, sleep.
Since you have had it twice, are you sure it is gone? Immune response is incrediblly expensive for your body. That is why we feel so nasty when we are sick. Stay very vigilant, it is tough to kill *every last bug*. Many people have resident staph infections like acne, but so long as they are healthy it doesn't run down their general health. Once you manage to *get* healthy, it should not bother you anymore even if you do still carry it.
There are long term affects of high dose antibiotics. Anti-biotic does mean anti live things. The stuff that kills the bugs also has some effect on some of your own cells, it is just that as an organism, you have more than a cell or two to impair or lose before you croak, unlike the single celled units of life.
Vancomycin prevents the proper building of a cells.
You were treated for while, and some number of replacement cells you needed during that time just did not get made. you are catching up now on that too.
If you drank alcohol *at all*, or a lot of caffeine while you were on this stuff you would have eliminated it more slowly, and may have overdosed yourself.
vancomycin can be toxic to your ears, causing hearing loss of loss of balance that persists. It can cause kidney problems that usually clear up on their own. It has caused some people visual loss due to a rash on their eyeballs.
It also *really* screws up your intestinal bugs, so if the plumbing is not working so well, best to let your doctor know about it. The inbalance of bugs in your gut can cause you to be protein deficient and unable to absorb nutrients well. If you do not want to see your doctor about that, there are many pro-biotic health food preparations full of live bacteria (yum!) The refrigerated liquids actually seem to sometimes work.
Some people do report muscle weakness as a lasting side effect. nobody seems to have studied that yet.
Personal guesses:
The stuff does put a load on your liver, and it is not unreasonable to guess that you could be exibiting some sort of induced porphyria, which is a state where your enzymes just can't catch up with your demand for them. decent vitamins and taking care of your liver (no drinking/smoking/caffeine/excess protien in your diet should get rid of that.
It is hard on your kidneys as well. Maybe you are wasting potassium. Drink lots of water and eat bananas.
Final note: Your doctor can measure your kidney and liver function, and see if your gut is overrun with bad bugs and treat that. go ask him to.

Q. Does anyone know the long term affects of antibiotics on your body? i was wondering if anyone knew the long term affects of antibiotics on your body? i usually get a bladder infection once every year for the past 5-6 years, so basically that's 5 courses of antibiotics i've already taken.. is this bad?
i am a female
"Im antibiotic resistant so hopefully this will knock the bacteria out"..."
Hi OneTreeHill
Here are some other ideas to heal the issue instead.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND SEA SALT
1/11/2008: Gloria from Vancouver, Canada writes: "Ive had chronic UTI's for a long time especially due to having insulin resistance. When I eat sugar it seems to feed the bacteria and yeast. I have taken the ACV and sea salt for the first time tonite..1 hour later the burning has calmed down, I have tried Dmanoose it helps but does not give me entire relief. Im antibiotic resistant so hopefully this will knock the bacteria out"
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND BAKING SODA, SEA SALT, TONS OF WATER
11/20/2007: Karyn from Lindenhurst, NY writes: "Hi I was hit with a really bad UTI one night, I was urinating blood every 2-3 minutes for hours. I don't have health ins. so I couldn't go to the ER and was frantically looking for a homeopathic cure when I stumbled on your site. I used the ACV remedy [Ted's recipe] and an hour later drank sea salt water. Throughout this 2 hour process I was drinking tons and tons of water probably a gallon or more to flush the bacteria out [which was very unpleasant] I had to take advil just to sleep because the pain was so bad. I woke up this morning and I am absolutely fine, no blood, no urge to urinate, all thats left is a slight feeling of pressure in my abdomen. I am concerned it will come back so I am doing another round this morning and I am going to take the cranberry pills just to be safe."
best of health to you

Q. How long does antibiotics stay in you body? i took some anti body 8 month ago for acid reflex and the two months ago i took anti biotic for my tonsles because i was sick and then the acid reflex came back. should i take the antibiotics for the acid reflex again

Q. How long until antibiotics flush out of you body? was on a long bout of antibiotics for about 2 months. would like to know how til they leave my system. thanks
Like any other perscription drug it takes 30 minutes to get into your system, unless you got a shot. If it is pill form you must take all of the perscription, as directed by your physchian, for it to fully work. However if you get the shot it could take up, to 2 or more days. What are you trying to flush out? It could take two weeks to leave your system, depending on how much you drink, cranberry juice helps flush out your bladder faster, and plums, or prunes the other way. : )
