In order to correct your over high lighted hair , i guess the better idea will be to go to a proper hair saloon and take help from the hair experts available there to correct your over high lighted hair rather than trying at home and taking the risk to spoil them .

This answer closely relates to:

Q. How do you correct purple hair?

First don`t use any red colors you like for at least one month and color your hair with a neutral brown or brunette. By going darker you will help the condition of your hair and cover the purple. To avoid the mistake of getting purple hair remember to stay away from the burgundy hair colors.

Q. What is the best way to correct home hair dye leaving green and ash to my color?
i have blonde hair but highlights and blonde coloring always left my roots coming out dark in 3 weeks so i went to a brown box dye, actually feria, a better box dye. a follow up cut confirmed what that i was seeing green. stylist mentioned a red toned non peroxide color be done, suggested purchasing from sally's. can anyone qualified confirm this is a good correction. also did a mayo conditioning. nice but not magical. wondering if vitamin e capsules or fish oil capsules have any effect on healthy hair? took gelatin tablets for healthy hair before but didn't see results.

Go to Sally's and buy the ION 30 developer with any color that you want and match the mixtures, use the same amount of each... it is much better than box dye!

Q. Will applying an ash color fix my orange hair?
from a previous mistake of dying my hair black, i had to strip it. i colored it a golden brown and it was dark enough to not cry about the orange tones, so i left it alone. then after some months, i decided to try again. i stripped it again with bleach and used a lighter neutral dark blonde and it is very orange now. i've left it alone but i have been looking up ways to correct it. many are saying if you are going to do it at home, to put an ash color on top of the hair to neutralize the orange, but i don't want a green either. is that likely to happen if i put an ash on top of my hair now?

"Once your hair has been processed..."

Hon - I tried that and went GREEN. Once your hair has been processed, it reacts very differently to additional processing. Your best bet is getting a professional to custom mix a color for you - but barring that, find a temporary color you can wash out that is in the ash family. Add a tiny bit of it and see if you like it. If not... it will wash out. Stick to the same color brand each time - switching will damage your hair even more. Don't do the plain peroxide thing - your hair will break, fray, split and fall out. If you are going to do it at home now - invest in TWO boxes of color... the Beige or Neutral version and the ash. Mix only 1/4 to 1/2 of the ash with the neutral color to the either 3/4 or 1/2 of the neutral. ...And I'd go with the 1/4 Ash 3/4 Neutral first. This will keep the horrid GREEN from too great a hold. I looked like tree moss for days until I put a temp-color rinse in golden blonde over it... save yourself the heart ache. Good luck, hon. Peace.

Q. How can i correct the colour of my highlighted hair?
i highlighted my hair and was hoping to achieve a light ash blonde colour. i left it on for 50 mins (the maximum time recommended) and the end result was definately blonde, but is yellowy looking. how can i tone it down? should i use a light ash blonde dye over the top of it? or should i highlight it again in the hope that it goes lighter??

"Dying your hair again will only weaken it -..."

A purple shampoo will neutralise yellow tones. Dying your hair again will only weaken it - book in to a good hair salon and have a professional fix it for you.

Q. Best medium ash brown dye (at home)?
hi, my hair is medium brown with way to many red/auburn highlights. i'm looking to correct the brassy tone in my hair with an ash color. i've used loreal color spa (semi-permanent) in medium ash brown many times in the past and it works ok, but doesn't always cover all the gray's and fades too fast. i'm looking for an good at-home dye that is a medium ash brown. i also have a ricky's (like sally beauty supply) near me and can get to professional quality dyes. i'm just not sure what level developer to use with a medium ash brown color. any help would be so appreciated. thanks! i don't have added highlights , so i'm not worried about covering those. also, i'm pretty young and don't have many grey's, just a few that really only i can see and worry about. really, i just want to even out the tone of my hair and cool down the brassiness. thanks :) oh, also my roots are my natural color, medium ash brown, not gray at all. just trying to get back to natural.

I use natural instincts and love it

Q. How can i fix my friends hair?
my friend had a bunch of different tone highlights and wanted a solid all over non brassy color. so since money is tight this time of year bought hair color and asked me to help her dye it. now her once brightly highlighted blonde hair is now an ashy blonde. we tried a golden color after to correct the greenish ash color and now its just plain funky. can't call the hot line cuz of the holiday. she needs it fixed before work tomorrow what can we do?

"If it is a temperary hair dye then in 12 washes it should come off..."

Can she go to a saloon early in the morning? They can wash the dye off. I don't think there is an at home solution. If it is a temperary hair dye then in 12 washes it should come off. Dish soup *dawn dish soup* speeds up the process so try continueously washing the hair.

Q. Correcting red hair dye.?
hi, i dyed my hair "dark reddish brown" with garnier nutrisse boxed dye over my dark brown semi-permenant colored hair. my real hair is dark brown but i wanted to "intensefy" it. anyway, my roots came out red and the rest of my hair stayed brown with red tones. today, i went out and purchased ion brilliance dye in "medium ash brown" and "darkest brown". i bought the medium ash brown thinking i would correct the red but i think i made a mistake in mixing it with a 20 developer instead of 10 to just deposit. now my roots are even redder and the rest of my hair is a dark dark brown with tons of red tones, which i hate. i really want to try and atleast fix my roots, take out the red without having to go to my hair stylist. do you guys think it'd be a good idea to try and dye a dark ash brown over it to correct the red? i was thinking of just doing the same darkest brown dye but i think it would just stick with the red tones since most brown dyes do that. help? :( i wanna add that i hadn't dyed my hair in a year and a half up until last month semi permenant dye i had done. even after these two dyes, my hair looks exactly the same it did before i dyed it... soft, shiny and bouncy, no damage. my hair has always been pretty strong, considering all the stuff i use to do to it back then.

try bleaching your hair and then dying it after.
