"Hair color is a reflection of hair pigments that reside in hair shaft..."

Hair color gets ashy only because of over processing. Its not fault of color. You need to get it done by expert like hairdresser or beautician. Hair color is a reflection of hair pigments that reside in hair shaft. If you over-process them, then the root become lighter and hence it could show different colors like ashy, blue. these are all symptoms of over processing. You can go with ammonia free hair color,if you want to fix them but remember,to get it done by an expert. xperiment

Q. How to fix hair color that turned out ashy, gray and slightly purple?
i normally have golden blond hair and just wanted to brighten it up. the box said nothing about ash, but i ended up with washed out ashy/grey and slightly purple hair. i want to use a multi-tone product to take it back to golden blond with highlights. should that do the trick or should i go somewhere to have it done?

"Will add the warm back to your hair and neutralize the unwanted tones..."

Grey is a sign of maybe being close to over processed... get an "ammonia free semi permanent" color from walmart... any brand as long as it as I described... a golden blonde will add the warm back to your hair and neutralize the unwanted tones ... depending on how over processed you hair is if it still has some of the ash/grey try again because with a semiperm. color it will take better each time you do it... I would get this problem corrected before I would do the hilites... when you do the hilites it may remove the semiperm. color you judt did and you end willl ash/grey streaks. Why not try low-hiltes... after the above is completed... get the same brand only this time get a shade or 2 darker stay in the golden levels... pull hair thru a cap apply product... if it goes a little dark... semi's are notorious for fading about 25% over time... reallygave a little more answer than you asked for but I hope this helps:-))))

Q. My hair has turned an ashy green colour! how do i fix it?
i coloured my hair with 7g (in an effort to go slightly darker) and now the bottom half of my hair is this terrible greyish green color. how can i fix this?

"The hair..."

the best thing to do is go to a salon and get a malibu treatment, this will remove any impurities or color clinging to the outside (Coating) the hair, then have the stylist tell you what to do next. Do not attempt to redo it, it could get worse, you will pay more to get it corrected and ruin your hair.

"If you are trying to tone down the orange..."

Never do blond yourself!! Really what you should have done was, gone to the store, and bought a stripper, now you have to go to the hair salon to buy this. It is blue and comes in a package or a tub, depending on how much hair you have. okay, then you put that on your hair, it will strip all the color of your hair, basically platinum blond, then you put the blond color on it. thats just to redo it though, if you are trying to tone down the orange, go to a hair place, like one that sells dye, and such and ask them for a toner, or just walk in and they will just eyeball your hair and tell you what you need. Good luck!

Q. I colored my hair today & it turned out darker then expected using a loreal color w/ highlighting kit. help!?
i was going for a darker blonde w/ highlights & my hair turned out an ashy, grey blonde color. i should have known when the color was purple going on that it was a bad sign as the color i normally use is just white going on, not colored. this loreal experte kit has the color that you put on & then the highlights that you mix seperate. i havent put the highlights on (yet) my question is, since i dont like this color to begin with, should i run to the store & get something lighter (people keep telling me bleach, im not sure what that means exactly, is there a brand of color that is just "bleach" & would it turn my hair white then & damage it if i did it today!?) or should i just put the highlights on that came with the kit all over my head as bleach or use it as highlights....please help as i have to be at my bf's college graduation tomorrow & need to look normal! thank you! i dont have the time or money to go to a salon right now either...its 6:30 pm where i live & most salons are closed even if i did have the money to go. i need to do something before tomorrow morning. please help, thanks!

BELIEVE ME! - I used that dye - only caramel color, and the highlights WERE MUCH MUCH LIGHTER than the box.. so don' tworry.. it should be very very blonde for you hun! x

Q. What semi-permanent hair color should i use to turn my ashy brown hair to a rich brown color?
my hair is relaxed and i don't want to get a color lifter because i heard that it will be too much chemicals. i have dark brown hair that has been dyed black before but its really ashy. i want a rich brown so it wont look so ashy against my skin tone. any ideas on a hair color?

Look for any medium brown colour. Don't get a really cheap one because they never go the way you want then to. :) xx

Q. I just colored my hair & it turned out way darker then expected, should i re-color lighter or is it too soon?
please help!! i just colored my hair to look nice for my boyfriends college graduation tomorrow & it turned out waaay darker then it should have & it looks almost ashy & grey colored now. i have golden blonde hair naturally & was looking for a darker blonde w/ highlights so i used loreals couleur experte express color in 8.2 iced meringue (medium iridescent blonde) permanent color. im wondering if i should run to the store & get something lighter & color over it or what can i do!?!? i need to do something before the graduation tomorrow. please help!! thanks! also, this loreal color came w/ seperate highlights which i didnt put on yet...can i used this to re-color over this horrible purply-ashy-grey color or should i even use it as the highlights to make it look better, start from scratch & get something lighter?! im lost! if i re-color my hair with something today, will it damage my hair pretty bad since i just colored it?? and for the answers saying using bleach, can i use the highlights over my whole hair as a bleach that came with the loreal kit??

"Tone out the yellowish/orange tint that your hair might end up (depending on how..."

Uh-oh....color will never lift color, in other words, light hair color will never take on dark color. You will need some kind of bleach to get light again. There's this stuff called Super Blue from Sally's Beauty Supply, and it's only about 3 bucks. You should use everything that they give you in the box and leave it on for as long as you think, depending on the shade of blonde that you want. Then to tone out the yellowish/orange tint that your hair might end up (depending on how dark your hair is) you will need to color it with a more natural hair color. You could put only blonde hair color on what you have all day and it won't lighten on it's own. But the whole process should only cost you about 15 bucks from Sally's....you'll need the Super Blue, 30 developer, and your choice of blonde hair color.....that's what I would do....good luck chicka!!!
