What color were you trying to dye your hair? What color was your original hair color? The dye you were using had cool tones to it and I am guessing that your ends had lost a lot of proteins and hence readily absorbed the blue coloring. My first advice would be to use a clarifying shampoo a couple of times to try to replace the proteins lost. Then you could try a trim to remove split ends and finally if blue tips still exist try choosing a color with a red base. Good luck...

    Q. I want to dye my hair ends blue?
want to dye the ends (bright, shocking, ect) blue but i don't know if i will be able to since my hair is dark brown; and i don't know if bleaching will hurt it. my mom said bleaching makes it stiff. what should i do?

Bleaching isn't that bad for your hair but after a couple of weeks i promise you the blue will turn green. Not a pretty green either. I'd say go for it anyways, if it comes out bad or as something you dont like, cut it off.

    Q. White/blue ends of golden blonde hair dyed to brown?
so here's the story. i dyed my hair with a box of dye hoping to just cover my dark roots & match my bleach blonde hair. instead, it turned my entire head grey. so i went to a salon the following day (yesterday) to get it fixed and i had a terrible experience. the woman toned my hair leaving it a dull strawberry blonde and then decided to give me bleach blonde highlights. which ended up being blue at the ends & falling off! she gave me a complimentary haircut which ended up being a lot of layers to "blend" it all together. she didn't bow dry it because it was so damaged but when i woke up this morning the majority of the highlights were still grey. i called her and she gave me two options: 1. strip the color that is currently in there, and dye it a color darker than my natural ( a medium brown) or 2. add more blonde to try to blend it all in. i don't want to have to chop my hair off or end up with a color worse than it already is. i just do not want to go to christmas with the grey/blue hair i have right now. help me decide!

I would not highlight your hair more, especially if your hair is already fried. I would go with option number 1. Ask her to try a dark blond instead of a medium brown. You can always make your hair darker, but lighter is difficult. Depending on the level of damage of your hair, you may also be able to highlight your hair again or a couple of months down the road to lighten it again. If it helps any, you can try toning it yourself. Toning uses the color wheel. If you want to cancel out or remove a color from your hair, you use a color opposite of that color on the color wheel. For example, if you have too much orange tone in your hair, you'd use a blue toner to cancel it out. I'd also look into another stylist. Try to find one that specializes in color or call around and tell them your problem and ask if they have any less damaging solutions for you. Good luck!

    Q. Is there a safe way to dye the ends of my hair blue or purple?
my mom says i can't dye my hair because of the harsh chemicals, and she's very 'wary'. if there anyway i could dye it safely? i heard that food colouring might work, but i'm not sure.

i'd suggest looking into manic panic. alternatively, you could try koolaid - it's subtle, but does work temporarily. or check out your local health food store for all natural hair dye.

    Q. How do you dye naturaly black hair green, blue, or pink?
i have naturaly black, armpit-length hair and want to dye the ends of my hair either green, blue, or pink. if it hleps, i think i might be leaning towards green. how would i do that? i hear to never do it at home and that the best way would be to go to the salon. can they do only ends of hair? what do you think may be a reasonable price? i'm totally new to this dying stuff, so is there anything i need to know when i go into the salon besides what i want? all i know that i'm going to say is, "i want the ends of my hair green." are there other things i need to say? also, what do i need to know concerning the care for dyed hair? if i've been hearing wrong and i can do it at home for a cheaper price, how would i go about doing that? product? step-by-step and tips please? thanx!

no- you have to do at home otherwise they will rip you off. you could however ask them to bleach your hair white. as black hair {mine too}, is hard to dye you have to bleach it. {professionably.} then just buy a hair dye kit and follow instructions on the pack.

    Q. How long does hair keep the new color after it's dyed, and how can black hair be dyed an unnatural color?
my natural hair color is 'black'. not jet-black, but more an 'off-black'. either way, it's considered black in color. i'll have fully formed locs (dreadlocks) in the next few months. when that happens, i want to dye at least parts of my hair a lighter color, like brown, then have the ends of the locs dyed blue (although, if this isn't possible to do, i can just as easily spray the ends blue).

Reds tend to fade out faster than any other color, but as a general rule if you color your hair it's best to use shampoos n conditioners for color treated hair to maintain the luster in between touch ups. I'm not sure about dreadlocks, but usually to achieve fantasy colors on black hair, it has to be bleached out first and wise to have a professional do it. If you are going lighter, then depending on how fast your hair grows, you should see roots coming in within 3 to 4 weeks after coloring.

    Q. Where can i find blue hair dye? or another really cool color?
my mom is letting me dye the ends of my hair a really awesome color for summer. im thinking about blue, but i cant find a store that carries it? any ideas?

Sally's or Hot Topic. Just a piece of advice for blue, though. If your hair has yellow undertones and you use blue dye, there's a good possibility that it will turn green.
