I dyed my hair brown but it turned gray how do i fix it? My boss asked me this the other day but I didn`t know. Gee Wizz I am stuck.

Today my hair is still a little lighter than the other. If i go and dye it dark brown again, can use one box. I have long black hair and need to use two boxes usually, but i only have one box left. I can just use the one box and get mostly the part that i missed and put the rest all around, it will get the rest of my hair as good. I know a lot about hair I was born with it.

Q. Why did my hair turn gray when i dyed it brown after bleaching it?
i had pink hair, bleached it then dyed it with a box of light-ish brown hair dye. i washed it out and it was a very deep gray. why did it do this? and how can i fix it?

When you bleached it, you essentially "pulled-out" the pigment. You then threw color over hair with little to know color molecules. If it's grey, you now need warmth (think fire). Get a color with more red/orange/yellow hues and put that over it. I recommend professional color that you can get from a beauty supply store or maybe even a generous hair stylist. Call around to local salons and you'll get more help with your specific situation. Box dyes are NO-BUENO!!

You can use dish detergent to wash your hair... it's harsher then a shampoo and will help remove the color. The reason this happened is because there are certain pigments that live underneath certain colors of hair... when your hair is lightened these pigments are removed. When you applied the darker color it didn't have enough of these warm pigments and your hair became to cool as a result... nothing that can't be fixed... but next time, leave the coloring to your stylist...

you need to put a semi/demi permanent color over it. since the are grey, red is the color that would counteract that color, but you don't want orange highlights right? so you could use a golden color wich will make them a cooler golden blonde. get color that matches the highlight level, not the darker part of your hair or your highlights will end up a darker grey. don't buy anymore box dyes because the developers in them are too harsh, especially when going darker, that's one reason why the highlights came out grey. when going darker, and having highlights, using an ash/green based dye is not a good idea because it will just turn them grey. btw, buy your hair dye at a real beauty supply, such as sally beauty.

my hair was colored blond in good condition i tried to die it with professional hair color and i was trying to make it a deep red brown color. i used a demi-permanent red and it turned out flaming red so i went over it with a permanent level 4 neutral base and my hair now looks grey in parts and flaming red in others, why would it do this? i was wondering if i put a level 4 golden base espresso brown color on it if that might work to cover it up, or if i needed to use a filler first on the grey areas? thanks! i dont really care if you prefer blondes!

Your roots went grey because they were already blonde, and I guess the blonde couldn't get any blonder & it's only option was to turn grey? If you want your hair to be blonde, find a nice shade of blonde you like & dye it. It's not gonna make it fall out haha (:

of course, i trusted my mom to dye my hair. she got an ash brown hair dye, it turned all of my hair into a dark steel color of gray. it's terrible. realizing that, we went back to target~ and got another hair dye. it's the 51 light brown. our last one had the word ash in it so thats why. on top of that, i had platinum blonde extensions, my mom put the hair dye in them, and it turned the same color. i don't know what to do, it looks terrible. help? here's the picture: http://i37.tinypic.com/33ksjno.jpg don't tell me to go to the hair salon. or get it done professionally. i don't have that kind of money, and my mom refuses to give me money for it. besides, they screwed up my hair the last time.

To be brutally honest, the hair isnt a problem. Its not shiny so it will look grey. Get some serum, heat defence spray and a better conditioner. You need to address the spots on your face more. You shouldn't get them on your cheeks like that. See the doctor.

if it went gray it was probably overprocessed to begin with. go to a salon and ask for a soap cap and warm toner. then use golden shades not anything that says cool or natural or ash. have a friend help you so you dont get the color on the previously color treated hair.

Visit a salon STAT. I know you wanted to save money by dying it yourself, but now you need some professional damage control. Your hair dresser can suggest what would be best for your hair: either trying to balance the colour out with a toner, or giving you a nice trim that will get rid of the nasty dry parts and split ends. The latter will definitely make your hair much healthier

i have naturally dark blonde hair and i get highlights. i tried to fix my roots with an at home root touch up. it failed miserably and turned my roots orange. then, i dyed it light brown to try and cover up the orange which turned it a greenish gray, and it was still a brownish orange on top. (i know, 2 big mistakes). so i went to the salon to get it corrected with toners. she highlighted over the dingy brown. it looks better than it did, but it still looks bad. the awful brown color has turned my once golden locks into a dishwatery blondish gray. i feel like crying. the brown hair dye i used was a demi-permanent and was said to wash out in 28 shampoos. i've shampooed with prell 3 times to strip out the color, and now it looks like the brown is washing out in spots. when the brown washes out completely will it leave behind my original highlights? or am i left with this awful color? also, the top of my head is still the brassy color, and the bottom looks so grayish. help me please!

sorry about this, but it looks like you've done a whole lot of damage to your hair that may not be irreversible. wait another week to see what the brown color will do, and if it doesn't come back, see if you can dye your hair back to it's natural color. you'll probably have to use bleach to lighten it, so make sure you go to a stylist to have this done. after that, the only real solution is to let your hair grow back out. as a general rule, you should always go to a stylist to dye your hair, unless you are covering up grey hair. again sorry.
