The probiotics can be found in natural form also . Even yogurt helps a lot in order to restore good bacteria after an antibiotics treatment for instance . But commercial probiotics are made in the lab and I have no idea how safe they are for children. You should ask your doctor about this. Jim Norrington

Though this might be a good product, if you are looking at probiotics, go to your local health store and look for the probiotics that are in the fridge, plus make sure the dosage is in the billions. There are many probiotics on the market but many lose their goodness while sitting on the shelf. Probiotics can be very benefical for you, plus some will pass onto the baby, such as bifidobacteria ( needed for the large intestine), Found a study done in Japan 10 years ago showed the high level of bifidobacteria in new borns, infact the breast fed babies were healthier than bottle fed, the benefical bacteria has a good effect in aiding in nutrient absorption Also check out the site below. I have used probitoics for years, first on horses, infact pregnant mares were the first, the mares and babies all did better health wise, my daughters baby was started on probiotics ( in the UK) and they never looked back. I have been taking them for years

You use lactase to digest milk, not lactic acid, which is a metabolic intermediate product produced in your muscles. Parrots do have lactic acid. Parrots don't have lactase, though, and can't digest lactose well, so large quantities of yogurt may cause diarrhea and intestinal distress. But a small amount of any live culture yogurt should help her establish a normal gut population. CULTURELLE should be OK, too, but it's probably more expensive. Lactobacillus GG isn't part of a parrot's normal gut bacteria, which is signficantly different from yours. But that's OK - it isn't part of your normal gut bacteria, either (it generally dies out a while after you take it. It can still be useful). Whatever you use, just remember you don't need very much - you weigh about 500 times as much as she does.
