Is there anything i can do to help or cover receeding gums? I am a student and I don`t know where to go to find this out.

"Alway brush your teeth from top to downward..."

When you have receeding gum and they are so sensitive that usually they start bleeding then you must takes care of the following.. 1.. Alway brush your teeth from top to downward direction 2..use the high quality tooth paste for brush. for bleeding gums, medicam tooth paste is suitable 3.. dont eat very cold water or too hot water or food because of the sensitivity of your gums. 4 days ago i had a receding gum grafting done. now..they put a putty like cover on top of the gums i guess to help them heal properly..my dentist said if it fell off to go to him asap..today it fell off and i noticed that my gums were white and i researched it and it said "if it appears white than probably it is a healing scar tissue which is trying to repair itself" is that true? also when it fell off i noticed that the gums were higher then the rest of my healthier ones..will they go back down when fully healed? and last question..how do i no if the gums are fully healing properly & healthy? i should of asked my dentist today but he was to busy to sit there and talk to me.
