If your hair is brown, you will most likely need a 20 V developer. But instead of applying the product directly to your hair just do a soap cap, by applying equal amounts of lighter,developer & shampoo together and lathering up. Let the product sit for about 10-15 minutes then condition as normal. This should bring you down a shade or two. But make sure before you apply the lighter make sure it is allowed on the scalp, if not you will end up with chemical burns. Good luck.

If the whole tube of dye is 2 oz then yes, still mix 1 part hair dye and 2 parts developer. You`ll just have some left over dye. It would be different if you bought TWO tubes of dye but if it`s just one tube, you`ll just have some leftover dye(:.

It depends on what color you are trying to achieve. If you are trying to be get a light blond...no, if you are trying to lift a few levels...yes, if you are trying to go darker you can, but don`t need to use such a high volume as 40 to go darker.

Normal volume 20 and volume 30 hair color developers do not have much of side effects on the hair . How ever, volume 40 hair color developer is a bit harsh on hair and should be used with care .

Yes you will have some left over , but dont over stress your hair and use what is needed.After you dye your hair put a deep hair conditioner pak .
