of course, i trusted my mom to dye my hair. she got an ash brown hair dye, it turned all of my hair into a dark steel color of gray. it's terrible. realizing that, we went back to target~ and got another hair dye. it's the 51 light brown. our last one had the word ash in it so thats why. on top of that, i had platinum blonde extensions, my mom put the hair dye in them, and it turned the same color. i don't know what to do, it looks terrible. help? here's the picture: http://i37.tinypic.com/33ksjno.jpg don't tell me to go to the hair salon. or get it done professionally. i don't have that kind of money, and my mom refuses to give me money for it. besides, they screwed up my hair the last time.

To be brutally honest, the hair isnt a problem. Its not shiny so it will look grey. Get some serum, heat defence spray and a better conditioner. You need to address the spots on your face more. You shouldn't get them on your cheeks like that. See the doctor.

You can use dish detergent to wash your hair... it's harsher then a shampoo and will help remove the color. The reason this happened is because there are certain pigments that live underneath certain colors of hair... when your hair is lightened these pigments are removed. When you applied the darker color it didn't have enough of these warm pigments and your hair became to cool as a result... nothing that can't be fixed... but next time, leave the coloring to your stylist...

Your roots went grey because they were already blonde, and I guess the blonde couldn't get any blonder & it's only option was to turn grey? If you want your hair to be blonde, find a nice shade of blonde you like & dye it. It's not gonna make it fall out haha (:

dye it bright red and then dye it brown trust me a friend had platnum blonde hair and dyed it a reddish brown and it went GREEN!!!! you need lots of red and orange pigment put back in your hair to get it brown its a pain but it works

Well...I'm assuming you are coloring your hair at home. When you are changing your color, it's never a good idea to do with drugstore color. The reason your hair is turning gray is because of the base of the dye. If you have white blond hair, and you are using a blue based color, you are going to get a grayish tint. The color on the box may say brown, but there are underlying pigments. if your hair is yellow blond, using a blue based dye will turn in green. get it? you have to go somewhere that understands color in order to give you a beautiful warm brown. thats probably what you should lean towards...warm browns, not cool browns.

Go to a professional! But really, you should let your hair rest for a while. Sounds like you've really been putting a lot of stress on it. A good colorist will know how to help you without hurting your hair. You need to be careful with stripping hair that's as damaged as your sounds. You don't want for it to break off at the new growth do you? Good luck and again my best advice...get the advice of a professional!

The reason it went a grey-ish color is because when you go from a light color hair to a dark color, you need to fill your hair first. A filler is typically a reddish color that they put on your hair so the dark color can hold onto it and it makes the dark color a nice rich color. Plus with a filler, it won't fade out as fast... No your hair will not be red, because they will put the brown over top and it will be brown. I suggest going to the hairdresser to get this fixed.
