To turn grey purple from dying, you should have to cut down already existed hair color to apply another one then this suggestion will be best for you that you should use bleach to cut the already existential color down. But to use any cut down agent you have to take very good care of its capacity to use. Its large amount may effect on the health of your hair. You may also consult to some dye specialist or hair specialist to have exact solution of your problem. .

    Q. Hair turned grey after dying it. what is the reason?
i tried to dye my hair a darker shade of blonde, and it turned greyish purple. it's not so bad anymore but i'm still wondering why it happened and worried about if it will happen again.

It was too ashy, too much violet base. It does wash out fast. Next time use more of a golden color.

    Q. Dying my hair purple, manic panic advice?
i dye my hair a lot and find most colors hold true fairly well despite my job as a swim instructor (think lots and lots of chlorine). however i want purple for prom and don't have the time to skip off across the border to hot topics to pick up the purple i usually use (raw) so i am stuck using local purple which involves either manic panic or salon (i really hate salons and their prices though). the manic panic ultra violet turns grey in my hair in like a week so i want to avoid that. does anyone know any other dyes available in canada orrrr how manic panic's other purples fair or if adding a toner or different hue such as a blue would fix the fading. thanks in advance darlings! i sleep with it in and bleach it till its an even yellow tone (otherwise id kill my hair) but thanks for the advice and replying! <3

you shouldn't have left it in for the time that it said to on the dye thing from manic panic.... u should have left it in for like 3 hours.... and if u did leave it in for that amount of time(3 hours) and it turned out like that you will need to bleach it and then dye it... other than that idk what you should do

    Q. Does dying your hair cause it to turn grey?
i have a friend who has been dying her hair since she was 11. and she dyes it colours like blue and purple and pink, like the kind of dye from sallys. can this cause it to go grey? because she went grey when she was 16. would all the dye do that? and if it does, can your hair go grey with normal coloured dyes?

Nahh, dying your hair doesn't make it turn gray. Gray hair is usually cause by stress, or to much going on in someones life. Dying your hair is only on the hair that is already there, it can't do anything to the hair that hasn't formed yet! hth --Harry h

    Q. Help! i over bleached my hair when dying my roots, i used a toner but now my hair is both yellow and purple.?
ugh, i accidentally bleached my hair when dying my roots. i thought the color on the box read "beach blonde", but it was actually called bleach blonde. my hair is usually a champagne blonde (by the bottle). a month ago i added low lights underneath and it turned out great. last night i did my roots and now the top of my head (mainly the roots) is pure yellow. i always use shimmer lights to get gold tones out of my hair and i had a purple toner on stand by for when my hair gets brassy. i used the whole toner on the top half of my hair but it really didn't work that great. now my hair is purple and yellow on the top. my roots are yellow, the bottom half of my bangs are purple/grey. then the middle to the bottom is my acheived color of choice, champagne and light honey brown (from the low lights). help, i dont know what to do. should i go buy lowlights and blend them in on the top to mix in the mess i created? or do i need to head to sally's for a dark toner of some sort?

Go to Sally's and consult with someone there, you will need them to refer you to the color chart, I believe that you should use a blonde with a violet base and it should pull the yellow out and turn it back to actual blonde. My mom did this about 2 wks ago and I just picked a violet base of the blonde that I wanted her to have and typed it with a 20 creme developer and it toned it down and brought it back to blonde. Hope this helps.

    Q. Hair turned grey/purple/silver when i dyed it blonde!!?
i used garnier nutrisse extra light ash blonde hair dye. i know i'm an idiot and i shouldn't have done it at home, but i did and i need your help to fix it. i probably will go to a salon to fix it, hopefully they can help. my hair is naturaly a very dark ash blonde...really dark. (for blonde) when i was little i was towhead but it just kept getting darker. well i decided to dye it a really dark red (looked awesome =d) i did that for about 9 months then i got bored with it and wanted to go to a really light blonde color (not quit platnium but really light towhead) so i first wanted to get all the red i could out of it and i used color oops (yes i know...stupid) lolz i didn't know it was only for right after you colored it. anyways it turned a copper color (ugh) i went to a salon and told them what i wanted, they said bleach all over my head wold ruin it so i should just do highlights of bleach to help get the red out. well that made it a light copper color :( i waited all summer then i went to sallys and used quick blue bleach. that worked well, my roots had grown out and now it was stark white where the roots were, the ends were a yellow color (ugh) i used toner (towhead)...turned it grey but faded over a couple weeks. so then on i wanted to let my hair rest. i spoiled my hair with a hole bunch of conditioners and crap. it became healthy again=d but my hair had grown out like an inch and a half and the blonde was now bananna yellow again and some of it still orange in places (im okay with that ;) so its been four months since i bleach/toned it and i wanted to do my roots and tone down the yellow. i wanted something that wouldn't completly ruin the condition of my hair so i asked around and they said garnier was the heathiest. so i looked up online what the lightest shade was and it was extra light ash blonde (white choclate). okay i died it.....it turned gray were the yellow was...and copper on my roots. i don't mind the copper i'll just dye it again with the same dye and then hopefully it will be the right color. my only problem is the grey...i know it'll fade...but to be honest i don't want to wait. is there anything that will help fade the gray? anything besides stripping the color or dyeing it a darker blonde (i don't want it darker) like anything natrual? you know, food. thank you for listening, it was really long(sorry). that dye that i used didn't dry my hair at all, it actually conditioned it. i'm big on hair treatments and deep conditioners and other crap. my hair is spoiled. lolz but then again it kinda has to be with all the crap it puts up with. oh and all these things i did to my hair were very long in between. i didn't just go here than there than do this and that. i let my hair take long breaks ;) yes i know i should go in to get it fixed and i probably will but i just wanted to know if i could do anything to help move the fading process along. just so its not so gray anymore. like anything natrual? but i understand going in would be best. sorry..none of that was ment to be rude lolz also im homeschooled so i don't shampoo my hair very often.

I feel like it'll fade out naturally over time. I would normally tell you to try bleaching it again, but at this point you've just done so much to it. I bet it probably feels like bubblegum when it's wet, right? That stretchiness when it's wet is going to make your hair get weaker and weaker and start breaking all over the place, which is just as bad as having it fall out. What you're gonna need to do is to cut off as much as you are willing to part with, and start conditioning the hell out of it. Don't shampoo it more than a couple times a week, but still shower and use conditioner in your hair anyway.

    Q. What are some good permanent hair dyes for unusual colors like pink, blue, or purple?
i like to dye my hair with unique hair colors. i've had half head dyed pink, red low-streaks, blue bangs, green hair with black bangs, purple streaks. it's sumthing i love to do. i've been taken it easy & haven't done anything new to my hair in a while becuz i've gotten tired of dying my hair these cool colors -only for them to fade away after a few days or a week pink turns to orange... red to pink.... purple to gray... blue to green... it looks like shit & i have to dye my hair back, wait months till i can do a new color, & after a couple days repeat the process. i want to be able to dye my hair a color & it stay that way. and the key word is dye -i dont want to put in extentions. does anyone know a good permanent dye? no criticism please, just looking for helpful answers. manic panic is wat i usually use & it fades so fast & is not a permanent dye. i'm looking for a permanent not semi-permanent. p.s. my hair is always a neutral color, i dye it a unique color only once a year for about a week or 2 till it fades. then i wait another year till i try a new unique color to prevent serious hair damage. but i feel like its such a waste of time becuz i can never keep the fun colors in for very long cuz they fade.

hmm..i LOVE colors lykk that in hair ;D but i usually hate fadingg ...have youu triedd mixingg brands.? tryy mixing manic panic and special effectss . i'vee never usedd this but i heard la riche is supposed to be a pretty long lastingg colorful dyee. (x whyy nott dyee itt a natural color and leave it lyk thatt for a while.? im suree it wouldd be a nice change and look good.

    Q. My at home hair dye turned my hair purple instead of blonde...how can i fix it?!?!?!?
i always use the same at home hair dye kit (clairol nice and easy). this time i wanted to go one shade darker. except for some reason my hair came out looking purplish/grey instead of a darker blonde even though i did the same thing i normally do!!! how do i fix this fast!?? do you think the hair dye was old or did i leave it in too long or what??? what could have possible happened and how do i fix it?!?!?! please help me the shade i died it was 106d cool ash blonde by clairol nice and easy do you think i should redye it with the same color but leave it on for a much shorter amount of time? i didnt time it so i suspect that i left it on for too long...do u think i would get the desired color w/o the purple if i did this?

If it's permanent then the only things you can do are dye it darker or go to a salon and have it stripped and re-coloured. If it's semi then go to a salon and have an intensive conditioning treatment to remove some of the colour. If you can't afford a salon go to bodyshop and and get the brazil nut moisturizing conditioning treatment, put in hair and put on a towel and leave it over night, then shampoo in the morning, this should help remove some of the colour or at least tone it down. I did that when I dyed my hair red and it was too red, it removed the colour really well even though was permanent.
