    Q. I died my hair a little lighter but only my roots got lighter?

This is a common problem with roots the reason is that your roots have newly grown hair which is more acceptable of a dye than already dyed hair also the hair near the roots get processed earlier than the rest of your hair because of the heat from your head and skin I would recommend you to go see a professional. They will get your hair right without damaging them.Jason White

    Q. What to do when your roots came out lighter than your hair?

Almost everyone can go red, what`s most important is finding the right shade of red. If you want to go red, I suggest not trying it on your own. Get a professional consultation. You won`t believe the number of emails I get from women writing in unhappy when they tried to go red and their hair turned out orange.

    Q. How to prevent roots from going lighter?

In order to prevent roots from going lighter than your hair , when you dye your hair , make sure to dye your roots first and then wait for some time without dyeing your hair . After around half an hour , dye rest of the hair as well with the color .

    Q. Will henna dye (completely natural red) make my roots lighter/darker than dyed hair?
every time i dye my hair i get the infamous lighter roots, darker ends scenario. i haven't dyed it in a while, but i would like to again with natural henna dye (red). will it do the same thing? i was thinking maybe not, because there's no chemicals in henna, but i want to make sure before i go and do it, lol. also, please don't tell me to go to a salon. i do not want chemicals damaging my hair, therefore this would be useless advice. thanks!

The easiest way to get away from your roots being a completely different shade of red is pretty simple if you are using the same color every time. Once you get the length of your hair to the color you want to continue to have you just do the necessary root touch ups when needed. When you do your entire length of your hair every time you are making the length darker and darker because the henna coats the hair every application, except on the roots which do not have any previous henna applications. Simply do root touch ups when needed and this will keep the roots and length of your hair almost the exactly same color. You can watch a video on how to do a root touch up with henna that makes it super simple.

    Q. What is a good permanent blue black hair dye for red hair?
i want to dye my hair a nice deep indigo blue like this: http://www.beauty-and-the-bath.com/image-files/dark-blue-hairstyle-01_fs.jpg i have previously dyed red hair and lighter red roots growing out. what would be a good dye for me to use? i'd prefer something permanent rather than wash out. i dyed my hair black before and it was fine -_-; oh and the idea is to not bleach my already fried hair

ewww WHY THE F*uCK would you want to dye your hair from red to black? You are going to look hidious! Natural red hair is beautiful and dont give me that line about having red hair and hating it bc i am a naturally red (orange actually) head and it is beautiful wouldnt change it for anything. We are almost extinct! Love you hair!

    Q. How do i dye my light brown roots to match my blonde hair without them turning red?
i went to a salon to dye my hair blonde and i really like the look, but it is expsenvie to do and id like to do the roots myself but red hair runs in the family and unfortunatly when i dyed them, they turned a redish blonde! how can i fix this/what color would be best to use to make my hair blonde but not redish blonde.

you need to tone it with something that has a green base to it. i would suggest going to a salon, expensive or not you probably aren't going to be able to fix it on your own.

    Q. I colored my hair red with permanent dye. now that the roots show, should i use a demi color to cover them?
i have natural curls, usually a lighter brown with natural red highlights, when i dyed it still had a bit of blonde highlights left on the ends. red looked great (it is close to my natural color as a teenager, which faded to brown as i hit my 20's).... the roots look terrible with the red dye. should i dye to match my normal hair color so it can grow out? i dont like to do too much to my dry curls. thanks for the help; i have never used a permanent dye before. my natural color is lighter, although not by a lot.

are you roots lighter or darker then the red you put on? If they are darker you will have to use a permanent color if not you may use a demi. Kind of hard to tell what you need from what you wrote sorry i can not give more help.

    Q. I want to dye my hair bleech blonde again but my roots are red and the rest is brown help!?
i dyed my hair red and now its like red roots and very light brown the rest of my hair. i want to go back bleech blonde and i have the stuff but i would like to know would i need to get rid of the red bits out my hair first? and if so how? please help. i want to dye it soonish. help! .x.

Your best bet is to bleach it so there's a new 'canvas' to start with. if you layer blond over the red bits, it's bound to turn up not-so-blond. use conditioner too. bleach is really really damaging. if things get desperate, your safest bet is to go to a salon and get it done.

    Q. How do i dye my already bleached & dyed & roots showing multi-colored faded red hair to a solid rich black?
actually my hair is about 4 different colors from top to bottom. my natural black, dark faded red, light faded orange red, and brown red. i want to dye it either one solid color (black) or black with plum tips (preferably.) i bleached my hair a year ago then dyed it red about 9 months ago..........now what?

I went to beauty school and got my degree, and from my best knowledge and from expierence( I color my own hair). Dont worry about the tips yet I would come to terms that its more important to just get your hair one color. Also I cant imagine that your hair is in any sort of shape to be bleaching the ends (again) and coloring them purple. You need to make sure that before you color your hair you use a professional brand mask or hair treatment for a few days to prep your hair for another coloring. Also do not use the boxed grocery store brands your hair is in bad shape and that stuff will suck all the moisture out of your hair and it isnt good in general. I would go to your nearest sally beauty supply and purchase the brand "wella" or "loreal Professional" hair color and some developer. Also since you are not lifting a developer of 20 should be suffiecent it is usually 1 part color to 3 parts developer if i remember correctly but it should tell you. Since your coloring your hair black there shouldnt be a problem with creating one color, though you do have alot of red in your hair it might have a red tint but after a month or so that should mostly disappear. Since red hair color fades the fastest among any other color. Dont forget to continue with the hair treatments well after your coloring and then when you hair is looking better attack the purple tip. goodluck

    Q. Dyeing red hair lighter brown at home?
my hair is dyed darkish red with naturally light brown roots coming through about an inch. would anything horrible happen if i tried to dye it medium-to-light brown with permanent dye? would it cover the red at all or would it go funny colours? anybody have any experience of this?

I used to dye my hair. The worst thing about brown dye is that it always looked reddish on me or faded out to red even with an ash brown shade. And dyeing over dyed hair will have different results as in the roots will be lighter than the dyed part. So it might look two-toned. The dye will take better to your roots but will look darker on the dyed parts.

    Q. I died my hair red, twice. but it's only dyed the roots red. ?
i've got black hair. on thursday i dyed my hair red, but it only dyed the roots. so i tried again on friday, it did the same. what do i do? next time get two? or dye it a lighter shade of colour, then dye it red? maybe light brown?

I am assuming your hair is dyed black, and the reason your roots are red is because that is where your hair is undyed and growing out. What you are going to have to do is lighten your hair before any red shows up on your hair. You can do this by bleaching your hair (which will take it to an orangey color) then dye over it with red dye. You should only need one box for this, but i'd recommend buying a second box just to have because red dye fades pretty quick. I am actually going to be going from black hair to red hair sometime within the next few days. Already did a strand test using bleach and red dye, the red comes out perfectly! :)
