This is an awful situation that your mother is in . She should call the ADA in your area..Talk to her doctor about a free glucose monitor Her doctor does have resources. Her pharmacist may be able to help her. Look on the box of a glucose meter to see if there is a 1800 number for the manufacturer call it ,alot of times the company will issue a free meter and test strips. If you can get a meter for free you're saving alot, Prices of test strips vary.but you need strips that are comptatible with the machine that you are using

most physicians offices receive promotional supplies from the different glucose check machine manufacturers..call them and explain your situation..they may be able to provide them to you for free...my cousin did this for years..they even provided her insulin for free...or call some of the manufacturers directly. many offer supplies for free to those in need. also, is your income level such that u could qualify for medicaid? good luck. it is horrible being with med insurance..and you deserve to be as healthy as those with insurance..good luck

Yes, some people can get their testing supplies free, but!!! You have to be on Social Security in order to do so!! That means for most of us that we have to be over 62!! Sorry, the help things only cover meds, not testing supplies. Maybe your doctor can help you out with free samples?? Or a church group that does community outreach clinics can help.

The company I use works with lots of different insurances. If I were to use my insurance and buy my supplies over the counter (at a local pharmacy) or even through my "perscription by mail service" provided by my insurance company, I would still have to pay a co-pay. The company I use does it in such a way that I don't have to pay a cent and never see a bill. I don't even have to re-order. These lovely little boxes just show up on my doorstep full of test strips, lancets every other month. I'm not sure that your experience would be the same, but I highly recommend checking them out. If you can’t afford insurance, free clinics (link below) might be a good place to start. You can ask the health care providers there about programs that might be able to help you. If you already have a doctor, ask her about ways to save on insulin and diabetes-related equipment. Check out the American Diabetes Association, Needy Meds, and Partnership for Drug Assistance (links below). The Lilly Corporation is supplying my insulin for free due to a program they have called the lillycares patient assistance program, or you can try the PPA (partners for perscription Assistance to help find your insulin. I told my doctor about not being able to afford my testing supplies, and he talked to some of the pharmacutical reps that come to his office and they sent me 6 months worth of testing strips and lancets, and said as long as i need them, they'll send them. so ask your doctor about something like that

Many drug companys have there own programs to help with meds.
